Easy Quiche

I have decided to start trying different quiche recipes for a few reasons. One being that I love quiche and have never made one (until last night that is). Also, I am pretty lazy in the morning before my morning tea and want something quick, easy, healthy and tasty! All it takes is a little preparation!

Last night I found this Easy Quiche recipe on my All Recipes app. One of things that was most appealing to me was the fact that I didn't have to make a crust and you mix everything together - yay, less work! I followed the recipe pretty loosely, in that, I made it with completely different "add in" ingredients. Instead of what is mentioned in the recipe, I used: 6 egg whites (instead of 4 whole eggs), white mushrooms, red onion, 8oz. freshly grated swiss cheese and about 1 cup of 4 mexican cheese. Everything else was the same. It ended up filling up two 8.5 aluminum quiche pans!

Mushroom, Onion & Freshly Grated Swiss

Wisk it all together
Pour into quiche dish, I added extra cheese on top
Done! Not very pretty, but tasty!

Cocktail Hour: Perfect Summer Cocktail

The past few weeks of an unseasonably hot "winter" has put me in a spring/summer mode. I have been laying out & buying new bikinis. I can't wait for the warmer months to be here permanently and go the beach every weekend. Until then, I have started concocting summer cocktails that make me feel as if I am on vacation every time I sip one through an adorable pink polka-dot straw. Here is the first of many recipes for those of you 21+ to enjoy :) This one would probably be a great "mocktail" as well!

Sevenly: Do Good

Today, I discovered an awesome organization called Sevenly and just knew I had to share it with you guys. Sevenly teams up with different companies every week and designs a T-Shirt for a cause. For every shirt they sell, they donate $7 to the company of the week. The shirts are only available for one week and cost $22. On their site you can; watch a video about the company of the week, see the shirt designs, their goal of how much they'd like to raise & where they are currently and how many days are left until the shirt is gone.

This week they have teamed up with Cloths4Souls:

If you buy their shirt at www.sevenly.org, you will cloth 7 kids in Bolivia. Isn't that awesome? And like they said in the video, even if you can't buy a shirt this week... donate some of those clothes stuffed in drawers & thrown in the back of your closet.

Chocolate Heaven

My sister and I decided we are going to try a new recipe every week. I am super excited to expand my culinary skills! This week, she came up with the idea of S'more & Ritz cookies, which she learned from one of her good friends this past Christmas. I had never tried either so I was extremely excited.... especially because I am a s'more fanatic.

I didn't document the Ritz cookies for some reason, but I will describe the steps below. They are both really easy and delicious!

S'more Cookie

First, get your Graham Crackers & Marshmallows. We broke some graham crackers into 4 (for smaller s'mores) and some into 2 (for regular size).

Then, melt your chocolate. We used Almond Bark Chocolate Flavored melting candy and melted it in the microwave. It tastes just like chocolate!

Place the marshmallows on the graham crackers and heat in the microwave for about 15 seconds or until they start to get larger. Pull them out and place a graham cracker on top (like you would a regular S'more).

Coat them in the melted chocolate & let sit on wax paper or tin foil to harden. Viola, S'more Cookies that you can enjoy for a few days instead of just an evening!

We added a little color with *Pink* Sprinkles (of course)

Ritz Cookies
Smooth...or glob...Peanut Butter in between two Ritz crackers and push together. Smother in the melted chocolate & lay out to cool on wax paper or tin foil (like the s'more cookies). They are to die for!

For a cute display, I placed mine in my mini cake stand on the counter.

Delicate Pink

Delicate Pink nails are one of my go to favorites. They are girly yet still professional enough for work. Since I work with all men, I try to keep my super girly side a little subdued, but it wouldn't been any fun if I have it up completely! Today, I have my yearly review with my boss (Yikes!) so off came the bright orange -wishing it was summer- polish I was rocking for the weekend and back to an old favorite, OPI's Italian Love Affair with glitter nail using Essie's Shine of The Times.

Seashells by the Seashore

The beach is easily my favorite place to be. I love feeling the sun on my skin, the sea-breeze through my hair and the sand on my toes. It has a way of relaxing me and making me happy - no matter what.

So, when I can't be at the beach, I love to have beachy items around our house to make me feel as if I am there every day. Lucky for me, my husband loves the beach every bit as much as I do, so our whole house is infused with tropical decor for an everyday vacay feeling. Minus the pink plastic flamingos...love pink, love flamingos, but you get my drift :)

One of my favorite ways to display almost anything is in apothecary jars. I own about 10 of them, all different shapes and sizes. These are two of my favorites from World Market. You can use them to display anything from Christmas tree clippings to candy, fruit, Easter eggs, and in my case seashells, starfish and sand dollars. I love to switch them out according to season, but until I find the perfect Valentines decor, my go to is always my assortment of shells.

Pom Pom Flowers

My sister made me these adorable little pom pom flowers out of tissue paper for my office. I absolutely love them! She said that they were pretty easy to make, so I may try my hand at a few (maybe with some Lilly paper! ). I'll post if I do! Until I figure out the best way to hang them from my ceiling, I have hung them on top of my window blinds which adds a fun pop of color when the sun shines through.

You can find tons of DIY tips on Pinterest. I have a few pinned on my " <3 " board here.

*Update* I ended up peeling off the Kiss Champagne effect nails the next day. I am not sure if it was the texture, but they didn't stick on all that well (the edges were peeling up). I'd recommend them for special occasion use. I did like how I could peel them right off without remover though.

French Glitter

Today I found a super cute nail idea on Pinterest and just had to try it out!

Instead of white tips for a French look, I used OPI's Bring On The Bling for the tip and a Sally Hansen's sheer pink for the rest of the nail.

Birthday Bubbly

Today is my birthday! We are celebrating by having dinner at my favorite sushi restaurant, Amura. So, of course, I have spent the day picking out the perfect outfit and then doing my nails!

I decided to try the Kiss brand of the stick on nail designs because of this cute bubbly/champagne effect they have. I love how they turned out! Let's hope they last as long as Sally Hansen's!

Little Pink Rhinestones

Today I actually checked my mail... You would think our mailbox was far considering how little I actually check it, but it's really only a few houses down. Maybe I should add this to my list of resolutions!

Anyways, I had a present waiting for me!! (My birthday is in 4 days). I get sooo excited when there's a box in the mail/delivered. It was from best friend that lives in San Diego, I couldn't wait to open it! She got me an awesome "birthday girl" wine glass and ... A Pink Rhinestone Encrusted doggie leash! Now my little Lola even has something little & pink! I bet she can't wait to terrorize some lizards on her next, very fashionable, walk.

Little Pink Nails

As I mentioned the other day, one of my 9, yes 9!, resolutions is to wear more pink. It is definitely one of my more fun resolutions and I thought the perfect way to kick it off is with super pink nails!

The color is Calendar Girl by OPI. It's one of my favs because, in my mind, it's one of the prettiest shades of pink. It has some purpleish/blue undertones with just the right amount of pop.

My understated glitter nail is Essie's Sign of the Times which is becoming one of my favorite glitter polishes because it doesn't take away from your nail color.

Pink has a way of lifting my mood, I think everyone has a color that does that for them. So, have some fun, and paint your nails your favorite color to kick of this new year!

Hot Pink

Happy New Year! This year, one of my resolutions is to start wearing more Pink! I used to wear it a lot, and then it fizzled out a little. 2012 is the year of pink... especially hot pink!
