Pretty Braids

Braids! We grew up wearing them when we were young, and they have become more and more popular over the past few years. This fall is no exception. A cute side braid can pull together almost any outfit and can even make a bad hair day, good!

Here are a few fresh braid ideas I'm loving :)

Pumpkin Decorating!

There are a lot of great benefits to carving a pumpkin - roasted pumpkin seeds and pumpkin pie! - but, this year I was inspired to try something a little different for the smaller pumpkins I buy for decor inside our house.

So far, I have completed one idea, and it only took about 30 minutes with items I already had!

My Inspiration:

My Version:
Since I love all things polka dotted, and it seemed to be the easiest idea, I took a stab at it...well, not really :)

Items you will need:
Small "Pie" Pumpkin, round stickers (Lilly stickers shown here) & a gold paint marker

Place the stickers randomly around the pumpkin & trace, then fill in

Finished product! I am using as part of a table centerpiece

I loved the way it turned out, and I can't wait to try the other ideas as well! Of course, we will still be carving pumpkins, but this was a fun way to do something different for inside.

Happy Fall!

Colored Denim is back!

Time for a little fashion!

Colored Denim, an old trend that is coming around again! At first, I was a little weary. However, after I saw my favorite coral shade and different shades of pink (by Lilly Pulitzer, of course), I was sold. I am hoping to pick up a few pairs in the next couple of weeks as the weather starts to cool down. Will you be trying this trend? and if so, what color? I can't wait!

Design Your Own Success

Last week I stumbled on this inspiring video. The presentation is given by Sharon Ann Lee, a trends analyst. Her talk is on the topic of the growing trend called (DYO) Design Your Own Success. She wonderfully explains how important it is to say no and to smartly allocate our time and energy.

I posted it to my Facebook, but didn't do it enough justice to entice you all to click on it, so here it is again. In my opinion, it's worth 25 minutes of your time. The rest is Q&A which is also worth watching if you have a few extra moments. I hope you get as much out if it as I did.

It's my ambitious goal to blog every day, but since I travel quite a bit, I might miss a day here and there (ugh um.... Yesterday). I am in Chicago at the airport now to head back home. Below is a few shots from my two day trip.

Enjoy!

Welcome!

I am so excited to have finally started my blog! I have spent the last three months trying to come up with the perfect name to encompass all of the fun topics and interests I'd like to share. Today must have been my lucky day! Also, as luck would have it, perfect timing - I got married exactly two weeks ago (more on that later) - so, I have a little bit more free time now :)

I guess I could consider myself an "inspiration junkie". I love inspirational quotes, books, movies, emails... and so, of course, it was no different when I was looking for a blog name. I wanted to be inspired by something. Today while looking around online for the perfect fall coat, I ended up on the Lilly Pulitzer site - no surprise there since I am a huge Lilly Pulitzer fan - and there it was, the perfect blog name - Follow the Pink Road. It's a new, super cute, pink paisley Lilly print for fall:

Following the Pink Road has a few different meanings to me. Of course, there is the reference to the movie I grew up loving and watching endlessly, The Wizard of OZ, and pink, which is one of my favorite colors. But, Following the Pink Road, also goes a littler deeper. To me, it also means staying true to yourself, being inspired and following your bliss. I am hoping this blog will help me stick to that goal and inspire my readers as well.

I'll blog about all the things I love - fashion, make-up, products, traveling, baking and inspirational things I find along the way. I hope you enjoy it right along with me and share with your friends!

Jaime
